Coffee Break at Jilla’s Cafe

It’s no secret that I am a coffee lover and my brother who made this website made a tagline “Freelance Writer and Coffee Addict” . Well maybe he is exxagerating but yeah, I love coffee from the time I was about 3 or 4 when I would sip the last drops of this bittersweet brew from my dad’s mug. And I love to travel. f you have been reading my posts here, most of them are about my travels.

So combining two of my favorite things in the world. I am sharing my coffee experience during own recent road trip. Actually whenever I travel, I always look for a place where I can share a nice cup with my travel companions.

Let’s cut up the chase and I present to you one of the best places on earth to have coffee…Jilla’s Cafe.

Sip freshly brewed native coffee as you look down at this view…

I know you are now asking, “Where is this?” . Jilla’s Cafe is located in Puntod, San Carlos City. And yeah, it’s on a highland, overlooking the city. That is Sipalay Island from afar and if your eyes have clear vision, the island of Cebu can still be seen.

I have discovered this roadside cafe 3 years ago when we first traveled back to Cebu from Iloilo ( RoRo via Bacolod). And whenever we have the chance, we never miss the chance to pull over and relax in this cool retreat. I have brought my parents here too when we let them join us for New Year’s Day in Iloilo from Cebu. My PC is “dead” and I can’t retrieve my old photos from Friendster ( my first love when it comes to social media sites). So I can’t show you how it looked before and compare to its present look.

It has improved a lot. Mr. Yee, the owner made a lot of efforts to make his cafe a full-blown establishments for roadtrippers. I love the new additions.

This is just one of the lamps hanging on the ceiling. I wonder how these lamps literally give light to the whole cafe at night.

This is something new. My husband loves this detail….

Happy that “Manong” is still there..

And reminisce when my 4-year old was still a baby when we first came here. Now, he sips my coffee ( I let him, I know the aroma is just irresistible). Here he is sitting down with me for some “intellectual conversation”. And yes, after some minutes of roaming around the whole place..Isn’t he such a darling?

After coffee, we stay for a little while for photos, to freshen up and for some relaxing time up high..

Why do I recommend Jilla’s Cafe? From a point of view of a freelance writer and a traveler, I highly urge you to drop by at Jilla’s. If we a coming from Iloilo going to Cebu, we drop by to relax our aching butts from sitting and for hubby to stretch his driving feet. And from Cebu going to Iloilo, this is the perfect place to nurse seasickness ( from crossing Tanon Strait going to San Carlos City).

Jilla’s Cafe not only serve coffee but also breakfast and lunch. Top amenities are their clean restrooms and of course, the view….till then Jilla’s!
