Why I Love Road Trips:Negros

We all love road trips. Well, except for those who suffer from motion-sickness. But traveling on the road connects us closer to nature. The dominance of green in your surroundings is really good to our eyes that are plugged in to our monitors all days. And one of the my favorite places for road trips is Negros Occidental. I’d loved to visit the Oriental side and I kept asking hubby to take me to Dumaguete.

For this post, I will share some of our snapshots as we travel back home in Iloilo via Negros Occidental. If you have your own car or renting a van, be ready to get off from the vehicle along the way for some photo sessions. The scenery and landscape is just lovely.

If you travel in the coastal areas of Negros or close to the capital city of Bacolod, you often see these plantations of sugarcane which is the major industry of this island.

With these men working really hard just to earn a penny.

I have bursting emotions for these men ( kids do this too!) but even if I’m a freelance writer, this is not the right avenue to air out my bickering. This post is supposed to be fun. 🙂

Lets bring back the lively tone of this post. I always tell hubby that I love traveling in Negros via Don Benedicto because it seems you are traveling the whole country.

Here is what they call the “Chocolate Hills”.

And my favorite,  Codcod rice terraces..

The “chocolate hills” and the Codcod Rice terraces are found within San Carlos.

As you traverse deeper into the mountains of Negros, this is a refreshing place..Malatan-og Falls

This falls  has been featured in many TV shows. Well, it is really a charming sight. Here is another shot of Malatan-og Falls…

Another favorite is the road in Don Benedicto lined with pine trees..

Never been to Baguio, so I’m an ignorante whenever I see these delicately-perfumed trees.

Locals actually refer to this place as “Little Baguio”. The temperature is also colder.

This is something new..roar!!! hehe

My little traveler posing next to the lion…he was so amazed. cutie isn’t it? 🙂

We saw these nuns making that famous “peace signs” as they pose next to the lion. They really looked funny and they turned out to be Chinese. They were very friendly especially to my Aki.

This spot is actually a viewing deck to relaxing views just like this..

If you don’t have your own car and you are with a bigger group, you can ask the driver to stop for you to take some shots. They’d be happy to do it.

Explore Negros!! 🙂

  1. Hi Valerie,

Your site is very informative for travelers.

We’re planning to take a road trip from Iloilo all the way to Cebu next week. If we cannot make the 13:00 RoRo sched from San Carlos City to Toledo, then we might as well spend the night in the city as I am not very familiar with the route from Toledo to Cebu and I won’t risk traveling at night. Any suggestions of a good place to stay in San Carlos? Our 5 year-old daughter will be with us so I would prefer a family friendly accommodation.

Any advise will be appreciated. More power to your blog.
