Just when I needed a different environment to think for a magazine feature, I learned that one of the my favorite coffeehouses in the city is closed. Yikes! Hopefully it is just temporary. I’m planning to include them in my Iloilo feature middle this year.
You may think that this post is useless. Why would a freelance writer blog something that is no longer there? Well, I just love the place and they serve the best green tea latte. More than that, I love the concept.
The Garden Cafe is in an old house owned by the Montinolas ( one of the many in the city). They rent it out and the house was used to have a language school for Koreans and then they also opened this cafe not just for their Korean students but to the rest of the public. I love this kind of endeavor – use old houses for modern businesses. Perfect and brilliant.
So after my college roommate Junalie ( are we too old to use this phrase Jun? hehe), swiped this B-I-G burger at Perry Todd’s, we walked to Garden Cafe.
It is just beside SM SaveMore Supermarket and the Jaro Cathedral.
The garden is not big. But I love the space. There is a small fountain and you will be surrounded with some plants – nothing fancy but it was very soothing just sitting there. We love going there at night – less noise from passing jeepneys.
Good company. I love their music too. And yes, wi-fi for freaks like me. haha. I love to own a place like this.
Let’s check the interior.
And their staircase. The second floor is off-limits. For their tenant/students only.
They have plenty of books there. A magazine writer should be an avid magazine reader too!
First sip for you babe. haha!
I hope they will re-opened. Junalie got an inside scoop that they will have some management changes. Hopefully. Hopefully. The place is very promising.
By the way, sorry for the blurry photos. They were all taken thru Instagram. If you want clearer photos, click here.
