Day 1 Davao Food Appreciation Tour

Before I begin, I would like to be clear that I’m not changing my personal blog into a food blog. Just want to clarify that because even my husband asked,” Are you changing niche?“. haha!

Well, yeah, my posts are now more into food that’s why I’m trying to mix them all with hotel-related posts and other in-betweens.

Hope you are not tired of my Davao blog posts either. I spent three days in Davao; you know how many stories you can share with that number of days right? I will be writing separate posts for each dining venue, so this is more of a glimpse.

Let’s begin?

Davao Food Appreciation Tour is the longest running food tour for bloggers organized by bloggers. It was a four day event  from May 16-19th but I skipped the last day – limitations of a mommy blogger.

Our first stop was lunch at RBG Bar & Grill at Park Inn by Radisson Davao. If you are my reader ( thank you so much!), you know that I just wrote a separate entry – “Dining in Davao: RBG Bar & Grill“. Please click to see more details on our sumptous lunch.

Here is our group with Ms. Meghann Sta. Ines (far end right in the middle), PR Manager of Park Inn by Radisson Davao.

We then went to Mam Beb’s Bakeshop,  for a product demonstration from Cacao de Davao and food tasting.

Cacao de Davao is a local pride, chocolate products made from locally grown cacao beans. Even the processing is in Davao. They offer chocolate bars, chocolate callets ( tablea), fudge and nibs.

Mam Bebs Bakeshop served us snacks ( we were still digesting our lunch fare) – palabok and their famous Hong Kong waffles.

This is so yummy! Perfect for our hot chocolate from Cacao de Davao.

Tummies full after 4 hours of eating, we had a “break”. Enough for me to rest and enjoy my lovely room at Park Inn Davao.

At 5:30, Chamee aka Miss Litratista picked me up at the hotel for our dinner at Yellow Fin Seafood Restaurant.

Sizzling seafood platter with squid, tuna, imbao ( mangrove clam) and other seafood bounties. I thought that imbao ( we call tambayang in Cebu) is only for soup. It tastes really good!

Who wants some balbacua? Pilit-pilit..hehe.

That was just a feast at Yellow Fin and to end our DFAT Day 1? Drinks at The Blue Room at Apo View Hotel.

Unlimited drinks and food courtesy of San Miguel Brewery. Yeah, after all those food we devoured, we still ordered some pica-pica..couple of times! Gluttons!

I had allergic rhinitis that night but it didn’t spoil my night especially with talented musical acts. Classics and pop music with the last act reminded me of Lenka’s music. Fun night at The BlueRoom!

I went back to the hotel “early”, for my needed rest – early flight, no sleep from Liam’s birthday the other day. I didn’t realize how early until the bellman greeted me, “Good morning Ma’am“.
Me: ” Morning na?
Bellman: smiled” Yes, mam. Morning na.

It was one in the morning. Talking about how safe Davao is!

I took a cab back to the hotel, Davao is the safest place to ride cabs even at wee hours. And my lovely room as a good respite after a tummy bulging feast for Davao Food Appreciation Tour.

Day 1 pa lang na!
