Megaworld’s Surging P35B Investment in Iloilo

Last September 5, 2013, Megaworld Corporation announced that they will increase their investment for Iloilo Business Park from P25billion to P35billion in the next 10 years. The P10billion increase is set to cater to the recent acquisition of additional 18 hectares, expanding the Iloilo Business Park from 54 hectares to 72 hectares.

The country’s leading property developer revealed the big news that will not just change Iloilo’s landscape but will shape a cityscape for this booming city and to become the largest business and tourism district in Western Visayas.

Known for their township projects, Megaworld has launched various developments in the business park like One Madison Place condominiums, Richmonde Hotel Iloilo, Iloilo Convention Center and recently, the P1.5-billion Courtyard by Marriott. True to the “live-work-play-learn” concept, Iloilo Business Park will also feature a Megaworld Lifestyle Mall, open park and 1.1-kilometer Festive Walk commercial and retail strip as well as a bike trail, among others.

“We have exciting plans for the additional 18 hectares that we have acquired. A unique leisure, commercial and residential development concept will soon be introduced to the Ilonggo market,” revealed Jericho Go, Megaworld Corporation’s First Vice President.

Megaworld’s P35-billion project is the company’s largest single investment outside Metro Manila. With added investments, Megaworld as the country’s biggest BPO office developer will offer up to 1000, square meters of leasable floor area for BPO companies.

During the announcement, research firm Cuerva Far East, Inc. also presented their study on the increase of land value for Iloilo Business Park. Cuerva Far East reported that land price for Megaworld township will increase from its current P45,000-P48,000 per square meter to P54,573-P58,212 per square meter in 2016.

Thus, Go encourages potential shareholders to invest now. ” We see great opportunities in Iloilo City, and our township will help realize the city’s vision to become a major driver of economic growth in this part of the country”.
