10 Ways Savoy Hotel Boracay Made my Mother’s Day Weekend Such a Colorful Experience

Even after more than 12 years of motherhood, I still feel overwhelmed with all the duties and responsibilities when it comes to raising children, managing a household, and trying to be a good wife. Mother’s Day though how swift it may be, is still a time for us moms to practice self-love.

After I treated myself by having a thorough checkup on women’s health, I think my whole family deserved a quick vacation to our favorite island – Boracay.

We spent 2 nights in Savoy Hotel Boracay and it was good break and bonding time for the Caulins. It was our first time in Newcoast Boracay and I’m beyond satisfied. Here’s why:

  1. Newcoast Private Beach

Savoy Boracay’s private beach for me, is the hotel’s selling point. Though Boracay is not as rowdy as it used to be, a private beach only means one thing – luxury. The beach is less than 10 minutes by walking and shuttle service is also available.

No need to follow a schedule when it comes to their beach shuttle; staff can call and in a few minutes you have your ride. The beach just like the rest of the island is pristine. The saltwater therapy I’ve always needed!

My kids went kayaking for the first time and it was easy for them to get the hang of it. It was such a wonderful scene to see both of my boys with their synchronized paddling. I also like the unique rock formation within the cove.

2. Massive Entertainment Pool Area

Savoy Boracay’s pools are its focal areas and I think they are one of the biggest in the island. I like how they have a dedicated party adult pool and the usual pool (with kiddie pool). This only means that the resort want to accommodate different types of Boracay visitors, because not all want to party.

We arrived late in the afternoon and we went to the pool right away. Though it was on the other side, I heard some kind of a Latin Party from the adult pool. Sorry, my San Miguel Light was so good and enjoyed my lounge bed that I was too lazy to check out the party pool.

The party pool during daytime:

At night without a party with its water still has the perfect temperature, maybe thanks to above ground pool heaters. I spent some time here – some Mommy alone time – just dipping my legs while I chatted with my blogger friends.

3.  Free Cookies

Savoy Boracay

I’m not kidding. This is my kids’ answer when I asked them what they like about Savoy Boracay. Well, it may seem simple, but gestures like these are important in the world of hospitality. We received three servings of cookies throughout our stay.

My kids’ “free cookies” answer also means how the staff personally took care of us. As a hotel with more than 500 rooms, I was worried about service. I had stayed in a larger hotel in Boracay many moons ago it was like attending a camp! Too much for me.

I prefer boutique hotels or smaller hotels for staff to provide me with that warm Filipino hospitality. Impressively, we actually felt that during our stay.

From the front desk to the security, we felt taken cared of. I also like how the staff knows what they are doing. I was surprised that one of the front desk officers was just one week on the job because she was in total control and catered to my questions.

4.  They love Mother Earth

This hotel in Newcoast Boracay has made some efforts when it comes to being nice to Mother Nature. In the bathroom is a refillable body wash and shampoo. The kids pointed out how the aircon automatically shuts off as soon as you open the door leading to the balcony.

5. Perfect Rooms

Our room was perfect for us. Enough space and totally comfortable but not too indulging that you don’t want to get out and enjoy Boracay. You can’t really see from the picture below but even their basic room accommodation has ample space for a family of four.

I think it also helped that each room has a balcony. Though I was hoping we could have a room with a pool view, I’m not complaining with the golf course view we got.

It was on the second day that I realized how peaceful our sleep was. I have been used to the sound of construction when in Boracay but with their location away from the main beach, Savoy Boracay is for you if you want to sleep.

6. Lots of Activities

Another family-friendly hotel in Boracay, Savoy prepares plenty of activity especially for kids. Each day they have activities like crafts. And it doesn’t end with the kids, they also have activities for adult guests like yoga and even Circuit Training. During our stay, they had movie night by the pool.

7. Gym

If you are looking for hotels in Boracay with gyms, you got Savoy Hotel Boracay. I’ve been working out for 5 months now and their gym is something I was looking forward to. Their gym is beyond adequate for a hotel gym with plenty of space and most of all, machines. In fact, I like how spacious their gym is.

Plenty of cardio from treadmill, elliptical, and even a boxing corner. For weights, they have barbels, dumbbells, cable machines. I like that they posted a workout routine for guests like me to follow. I was able to insert an hour of workout before a heavy breakfast.

I didn’t take a photo inside the gym – someone was working out when I got there. Here’s a glimpse from the lounge for those who want to have a relaxing massage from their spa.

8. Space and lots of space

I think one of the reasons why I truly had a relaxing long weekend in Boracay for Mother’s Day was the spacious property of Savoy Boracay. Their lobby alone is really huge – it helped when you arrived after a long trip along with other guests or when you are about to check out.

They may have more than 500 rooms but during our stay, I didn’t feel the cramp. I can’t even say they were less guests because they were really plenty. I like the layout of the hotel like they have plenty of elevators in each side of your wing.

The hotel has an escalator that connects the pool, cafe, and gym to the lobby. This is great for those who have mobility issues.

9. Pinteresty Decor

Interior and decor can do a lot for a property from boutique hotels in Boracay to bigger hotels like Savoy Hotel Boracay.

It starts from their lobby…

and to the rest of the resort. I really love the splash of colors. If you love Instragrammble-spots for your social media, you’ll never run out when staying at Savoy Hotel Boracay.

Their restaurants also has a cool vibe. I’m not an expert when it comes to decor, but from a layman’s perspective, I like how they bring the tropical vibe without trying too hard.

10. Serenity

Those who want enjoy the energy of Boracay while still have the indulgence of peaceful nights and stay, you might want to check out Savoy. It is quite big and I personally like smaller hotels but they did deliver that boutique hotel feel specially when it comes to service.

Though there are many guests, the varied activities for guests perfectly dispersed us and letting us feel that “we owned the resort” experience. We never felt the crowd while in the pool, in the restaurant, lobby, and even at the private beach.

I was expecting the breakfast to be busy given that their main restaurant is not that big but we always had tables and our own personal space during our 3-day stay.

Until our check out, we were taken cared of. Waiting for the shuttle was not chaotic even with fellow guests in the lobby.

Savoy Hotel Boracay and Club Access

If you’re a mom or a parent, you know it is not cheap to travel with your whole family. With older kids now, I’m starting to feel the extra cost when traveling with my children.

I’m glad that I’m a member of Club Access, an exclusive privilege program for Megaworld hotels like Savoy, Richmonde, Belmont, and Twin Lakes. On top of the perks and discounts are vouchers for the hotels.

For our 2-night stay, I used my Overnight Complimentary Stay and the 50% Discount for Savoy Boracay vouchers. I also availed dining discounts during our stay. We paid less for premium experience, thanks to Club Access.

I can say the Club Access is sulit and I’m definitely be renewing my membership.

Is it worth staying?

This is always the questions friends ask me when they learned that I stayed at Newcoast Boracay, away from White Beach. Personally, it is a yes.  I really don’t mind the distance as long as I can relax if I want to detach myself from the epicentre of partying in the island.

I always tell my friends who don’t have kids to, “bring a lover“. haha.  It is really private and it seems like you are whisked to a pristine spot in a touristy island like Boracay. If you don’t want to be seen when in Boracay, stay in Newcoast Boracay.

This is actually our first time to stay in a hotel away from White Beach and honestly, I still need to get used to the shuttle scheduling. I find the 1 and half hour intervals too long (we missed one shuttle by 2 minutes), though the staff compensated it by hailing a tryk for us.

Location, service, and the savings I got… we will be back. If you are thinking of where to stay in Boracay, check out Savoy Hotel Boracay.
