Tibiao Fish Spa

Tibiao Fish Spa

I am not affiliated with Tibiao Fish Spa nor am I paid to write this post. I am one of the rare species of freelance writers who are into independent blogging. I blog and feature this business not just because I am a freelance writer but also because I just want to.

Besides, he was begging me to take him to the fish spa “para i-eat sa fish akong fish kay dusty akong feet“. He can even make animated moves to mimic how these lovely creatures nibbles..

And Tibiao Fish Spa was the highlight of her recent Iloilo vacation

Tibiao Fish Spa

If you are visiting Iloilo City or you have friends coming, Tibiao Fish Spa is a must-do. It will never fail to impress and delight visitors just like my mom.

As I do a little research on this spa, I learned that the people behind this brilliant idea are also alumni of UP Visayas with two of its “founders” from the College of Fisheries. So there, it is their expertise and I am truly impressed.

Going back to the spa, fish spa is a luxurious kind of treatment and I first saw this on TV. I think it was in Europe with patients with acute skin diseases dip in pools filled with special type of fish that nibbles on the patient’s skin eating dead skin cells. Then during our trip in Camiguin, I saw tiny fish nibbling on our bodies while we were dipping at Sto Nino Cold Spring.

Tibiao Fish Spa takes pride in their low rates making them the most affordable place to experience fish spa. They use fish from the highlands of Tibiao, Antique ( 86.4 kms from Iloilo City). As they have a degree in Fisheries under their belt, I cannot question about their spa.

They had their first spa along the highway of Tibiao but now they have one in SM City. It is very awe-inspiring that it can compete with other spas and skin centers. Here is their place in SM City. It is on the lower ground floor close to the west entrance.

When you enter the spa, their attending staff will give you a laminated  catalog enumerating their provisions. People with open wounds, acute diabetes and sever skin diseases are not allowed to use the spa.  Then you are escorted to leave your belongings close to their counter and wash your feet.

They have a VIP fish spa ( 350Php for 45 minutes), full body fish spa ( 1400php an hour,) but I treated my family to their classic spa ( 120Php for 30 minutes). Classic fish spa treats you to two tanks, choosing the size of the fish.

If you just want some refreshing feeling or light “scrubbing”, go to this pool.

Here is my 4-year old enjoying his fish spa. It is his second time but he wants to go to the VIP where his dad treated him during his first visit.

But if you like to have your callouses removed in a more natural way, go to this pool

Yes bigger fish and not for those with sensitive fish. Take note of tickling sensation. Just look at my mom’s expressions when she first dipped her feet in the tank. haha!

But just a few minutes and finding her perfect spot in the tank with other college girls ( feeling young! haha), she was enjoying Tibiao Fish Spa.

The fish are very “hardworking” acting like little nippers and scrubbers. Mom said her foot corns and callouses were eaten away. True, my mom’s feet looked whiter and cleaner in a glance and they felt softer ( yes I really touched them. haha).

Tibiao Fish Spa is the best choice if you want 100% natural treatment. No hard tools in removing not just your callouses but your skin, leaving you with small wounds and lacerations. Or those paraben-filled lotions and foot scrubs. If you want to go natural, go to Tibiao Fish Spa! Not to mention the fun you have with these fishy fishy..

Thanks for reading! 🙂

  3. Hi, we had recently experienced Katahum Tibiao and we had it published in the Central Philippine University Blog. I found your narrative about the Tibiao Fish Spa experience more detailed than what I had written. Thus, I linked to your website so that readers could get additional info through your post here. Congratulations! You have a nice and attractive blog. It’s also good to see that you are into online writing. Perhaps we can collaborate in a project one of these days. Thanks you and more blessings to you.

  4. VIP fish spa actually costs P250 only. Last Saturday, I read your article in the Cebu Pacific inflight mag and it said, Classic fish spa costs P140. Actually, it only costs P120.

  5. Are you associated with Tibiao Fish Spa? Sorry if I gave the wrong figures but I’m pretty sure I have the right price as of the date I wrote that piece ( I wrote it last May).

Anyway, thanks for visiting and leaving your comment here! 🙂

  6. I happen to know the owners personally. Prices haven’t changed since Tibiao Fish Spa opened last year. And from what I know, full body fish spa costs P1,300 only not P1,400. Thanks for the positive reviews anyway. Come again
