Hygge in the Fall: Simple Ways to Embrace the Lifestyle

Have you heard about Hygge?

While it has been an on and off trend for some time it is still a great way to help you focus on the important things in life. With an emphasis on comfortable living and enjoying all the good things life has to offer. It comes from Denmark originally, and the Danish have been known to be the happiest people in the world.
They put that down to practicing Hygge. Entering the later part of the year means the darker nights are drawing in. So now is the ideal time to share some of the ways you could incorporate Hygge into your lifestyle and home decor.

Take pride in your home decor

Sometimes just making a few significant changes to our home can make a big impact, and help you take on this trend in your home. Think about incorporating warm colors to keep that ambiance alive. Reds, creams, oranges are all colors to consider.
You can make simple changes to the soft furnishings in your home and theme some of the decorations to coincide with the time of year. Changing up things like cushions and blankets is a quick and easy way to add some extra comfort to your living spaces.

Add candles to create an ambiance

Many people would agree that lighting candles can create a soothing ambiance in your home, and this is something that is extremely Hygge. So instead of using lamps or keeping those bright lights on, why not get those candles out instead and create a cozier environment to relax in?
You could even consider scented ones to add a lovely scent to your living space. If you are looking for something relaxing, then Lavender always works well, but there are some amazing winter scents like mulled wine, apple cider, and festive scents that could inspire you and set the mood.

Think about the food

Food plays a vital part in embracing a hygge lifestyle. It is all about the comfort food. Casseroles, stews, and home baking are some of the things to enjoy. As the weather gets cooler it is easier than ever to get back in the kitchen.
You should also think about the ingredients that are seasonal, such as pumpkins and root veg. Whether it is baking this easy pumpkin bread recipe or sticking your favorite ingredients in the slow cooker to make a casserole or soup, food is one of the easiest ways to embrace this lifestyle.

Do what makes you happy

Finally, it really is all about simplicity in your life and one of the best ways to do that is to do what makes you happy. It isn’t possible to do that every minute of the day, after all, we have commitments to jobs and family life.

But we can be encouraged to do more of what makes us happy. Whether that is exercising, heading out for a walk, spending time with the family, or things like crafting, do more of it and you will instantly feel happier.

Why not embrace the simple things in life this fall and give some of these a try?
