Make your Own Havaianas 2018

Living in a tropical country, we all grew up wearing flip flops or tsinelas but in a decade or two, wearing flip flops is no longer limited to home footwear but for lounge wear or even when you’re out and about. Today, business and corporate people wear flip flops while on a break or off from work to let their feet breathe from the usual corporate heels and closed shoes. To avoid looking rather poor, there is one brand of flip flops everyone wears to still look elegant in tsinelas – Havaianas.

This Brazilian brand was founded by Scotsman Robert Fraser in 1962, with its design inspired by the Japanese flip flops called zori (FYI Brazil has a large population of Japanese descent). The word, “Havaianas” is the feminine form of the word, “Hawaiians” in Portuguese, the language spoken in Brazil.

Every year, Havaianas host the “Make Your Own Havaianas” to let each customer personalize their beloved flip flops from colors to pins.  This year, the theme is “Wilderness of Joy” where you leave your worries behind as you find joy while personalizing your pair.

At the All Flip Flops of SM City Iloilo, media including yours truly had a quick respite from your daily grind as we customized our pair of Havaianas.

I loved the muted pink tone of the sole that I picked. For the pins, I picked a donut and a watermelon.

The pair to wear for casual dressy outfits or just when you want to relax your foot when you’re out without looking shabby, wear a customized Havaianas! To make your own own Havaianas, visit All FLip Flops at the Lower Ground floor of SM City Iloilo.
