Alobijod Cove Resort

Going to Guimaras with my kids in tow can be tricky. As I mentioned in my previous post, looking for a family-friendly resort in Guimaras is not easy. I personally think that the island is still appealing more towards backpackers and those who love off-the-beaten-paths. With kids, we need a restaurant, a quiet resort to sleep in, and transfer from the port of Jordan should be easy.

I tried to stay away from Alubijud Beach, the most popular tourist area in Guimaras because it reminds me of  karaoke-singing-all-night-long beachgoers. Because I cannot find any alternative and I can’t afford Isla Naburot, I took a leap and tried Alobijod Cove Resort.

I stalked them online. I inquired via their Facebook page, but I didn’t get a response though they keep saying ” send a PM”. Fortunately, they posted their mobile number ( Alobijod Cove Resort contact number : +63 0922 862 6972).

All my inquiries were answered before our trip via SMS. I initially booked a room for 2 pax ( Php1,500) but it was too small for us. We transferred to a room good for 4 pax for Php2,500. The room is simple, no TV ( which my husband loves).

Nothing much from the room but I love the linens and pillows, they were very hygienic and soft. Since we were out most of the time, all we needed were clean and nice beds without the noise. My kids slept through the night.

The resort has a lot of space unlike its neighbouring resort where every inch of their property is built with cottages and buildings. Instead, they have these huts with thatched roofs. It gives a nice beach vibe.

There were black birds ( our boatman told me the name but I forgot) who love “nesting” on top of the roofs. Add the sound of the waves and viola! The perfect beach getaway!

Alobijod Cove Resort gave us peace during our stay. When we arrived, there were only a few guests.  You can say we had the resort all for ourselves. By late afternoon, day trippers arrived yet it didn’t spoil our time. The resort is non-smoking and no karaoke or rowdy tourists!

Their beach has less crowd and clean. I used to stay away swimming in Alubijod Beach but the water was inviting. My kids were actually happy that I swam with them until I saw one jellyfish but the next day, we learned it is harmless.

The resort is located at the end of the beach, thus some tiny litter and debris are washed along their shores but their lifeguard diligently scooped them out. We also availed their boating trip (Php550 for the first hour, Php150 for every succeeding hour). I like how their boatmen were knowledgable and listen to what their guests like. I asked if we can personalize our trip a little like skipping some island hopping spots to maximize our time.

When it comes to food, I disagree with what I read that their food is expensive. It is not cheap but I will label it as ” mid- range”, the price are just what you expect in resorts of the same range. We had all our meals at the resort. We always pre-order our food to avoid waiting with hungry tummies.

The best part is eating them in our hut facing the beach. Just a small comment though, the resort might need to work on achieving the highest quality. For our dinner, our soup and sizzling squid arrived cold but I really don’t mind because it was good and it can be hard to keep them cold with the breeze.

The good thing though is that the longer we stayed, we saw some improvements like our sisig arrived sizzling for our lunch and our server was more confident of his skills. I like that their corned beef for breakfast is not the cheap brand. We love their tapa, longganisa and their grilled meat. So I guess it compensated everything. 🙂

Are we going back to Alobijod Cove Resort?

Definitely yes and I can recommend it to you if you want a comfortable beach resort in Guimaras. The rooms are affordable while their food are reasonably-priced. The resort doesn’t have credit cards, bring enough cash with you. They have a safe parking area too.

Their staff were great and we felt the personalized service. I appreciate how their manager was hands-on. Before I learned he was the manager, I saw him monitoring the property, checking out the guests if they are fine and to enjoy without being intrusive.

The servers and the front desk officers ( thanks for the late check-out!) were great and patient too. I hope they can maintain the resort for years because finally, I found a resort my family can always go back to. For an island like Guimaras, the resort is a reliable place to say.
