European Dream: My Bucket List Destinations

The World Health Organization finally ended the Covid menace to human civilization and though many have been traveling overseas since last year, this will be our first trip since Covid. Traveling as a family almost every year with Beijing as our last trip, I’m slowly turning my dream Europe trip into a reality.

I will be traveling with my husband only this time – sort of our well-deserved late honeymoon! Anxious of the work opportunities I might have to decline for a month in Europe, but this is it. I have started working on our Schengen visa.

So in the middle of completing our Schengen visa requirements, I am finalizing our 20-day itinerary in Europe.

Central Europe Bucket List

For this trip, we will be visiting mostly Central Europe because I think we have to visit them while my husband and I are still “young”.

As a coffee-pastry lover, Austria tops my list. I have dreamt of Austria since my mom started playing Classical music to us while study during weeknights. From operas to grand museums, Austria is blessed with its stunning landscape. I’m including Vienna, Salzburg, and Hallstatt in our Austria itinerary.

As a DIY traveler, Austria due to its location is highly accessible from its neighboring countries and key destinations like Munich, Lake Bled, Bratislava, Budapest. This is the reasons we have decided to lodge our Schengen visa to the Austrian Embassy it is convenient to stay the longest in Austria.

Any culturally-inclined traveler will put Hungary’s capital on the map. I’ve been dreaming of visiting this place that I got jealous when my college friend – another intrepid traveler – went there before me. Haha!

I can’t wait to see their thermal baths, the Hungarian Parliament and enjoy great food!

I fell in love with Prague the moment I saw the music video of Jason Mraz for the song, Lucky. The architecture and the rich history that is so underrated many others. Prague is also a few hours from Vienna like Budapest that I can’t wait to explore. I’m also thinking to travel to the UNESCO heritage city of Cesky Krumlov.

This is the European destination that I’m really curious about because based on what I read, Bratislava is more than just a day trip destination from Vienna. In fact, my blogger friend said he wished he stayed longer in Slovakia’s capital city.

I have to be real, everyone who travels aim to get that travel bragging rights. And for me, it is Lake Bled. I learned about Slovenia from Paulo Coehlo’s novel, ” Veronika Decides to Die” almost 20 years ago and just stumbled upon the idyllic Lake Bled.

I really home we can make it to Lake Bled because it is not that easy to get to compared to others – or just me? Please let me know if you know how accessible it is.

Of course, who would skip the classic European destination on their list. With their efficient train system, we can certainly extend outside Central Europe!

I can’t wait to see Paris, the German castles, the Swiss Alps and try the famous Belgian fries. Italy, oh Italy. I hope we can at least explore Venice or Lake Como perhaps?
