A Mom’s Guide To Planning a Memorable Summer Vacation

It’s starting to become hotter and more humid nowadays. On the other hand, your school children  are now on the last leg of their school year. That only means that summer is fast approaching!

Although summer, for some, is all about beach bumming, sipping some coconut juice, and having a good tan, summer means pretty much different especially for moms like us. Even if we can take a little rest from the early morning school rush,  our kids have to be entertained too without them glued to their gadgets throughout their summer break. Unless money is not an issue, we simply can’t afford to spend our summer vacation on a holiday.

An amazing and memorable summer with your family doesn’t just happen. It takes early planning, creative thinking, and tedious preparations. And planing 2 months worth of activities to keep your kids entertained is never easy, but don’t fret! I have listed below some helpful tips I do for a full proof summer vacation to remember.

Brainstorm with your Family

Family Summer Vacation

The first step is to simply conduct a brainstorming session with your kids, or your whole family. You can ask them what they really want to do, not just what you want them to do. Talk about it as early as now, even over dinner or when you drop them or pick up from school. This way, you can ensure that they would have a rewarding vacation from a year of school.

As a guide, you can consider your favorite things to do with your family and how you can do more of that. Likewise, discuss what are your least favorite things to do and how can you minimize that. You can also get a lot of ideas on what to do in summer based on activities available around your area.

Set Goals

Take a break from gadgets and play sports!

I’m sure you’ve listed quite much from your brainstorming session. But you can narrow it down by setting goals you want to achieve for you and your family this summer. You may want to visit one new place, try a new activity, make your kids learn a new skill, or improve your kid’s knowledge on a subject. This way you can cross out those initial ideas that won’t help you achieve your set goals.

Start Prepping

Have a productive yet enjoyable summer with learning centres like Galileo
Sign up your kids to educational centres where they can also have fun

Now you have the final list of things to do and the goals you want to be achieved, the next step is to start preparing for these activities. If you’re planning a family vacation, you should start creating your itineraries or booking your accommodations. If you plan to have a productive summer, you need to start searching for excellent summer workshops to enroll your kids. Whatever activity or goal you have set, you need to start your preparations as early as possible.

Create a Budget

While summer is all about having fun, being productive, and making memories with family, it is still extremely important to watch out for your budget. This is one of the major advantages of planning early – you can create an acceptable summer budget. Remember, another school year is coming after this, you should always consider the major expenses you still need after the summer.

There’s always a way to make summer fun while keeping your budget in place. You don’t have to go far places to enjoy a family trip or spend a lot for a music lessons. Remember, there are plenty of affordable summer classes available for those on a budget and you can always travel as a family without breaking the bank..

Kids are always excited for summer, but for us parents, it is usually stressful and tiring (sometimes, you just wish they are in school). But with the right plan and preparations, you can sure to have a summer filled with happy memories with your family.
