Inside Sultan Kudarat Capitol Building

The Provincial Capitol of Sultan Kudarat is probably the main structure in the province and a great landmark when you travel to Sultan Kudarat. Like other places like in the US or in Cebu, capitol buildings are works of art. Set in a vast lot, it is not hard to let this edifice unnoticed especially if you are traveling as it mirrors a progressing province with people enjoying life. It is reportedly the biggest capitol building in Asia (thanks Atty. Agnes for the info).

For someone who is wet behind ears when it comes to architecture, these arches and details are outstanding..

At night, it will remind you of a luxurious hotel or casino. When you are the dreamy type, you feel like living in Princess Jasmine’s castle..

Very spacious with green in every corner. Peaceful scene.

The lot used for the Capitol Building and the rest of the complex ( as there are other buildings in the area) was donated by the family who owns KENRAM, a company who owns vast African Palm plantations which is a major and main livelihood of the locals.

Like most Capitol buildings, they have a fountain. Its design was quite baffling at first.

Once you are on the upper floors, its surprising design makes sense. Relaxing sound sans the drowsy effects..

Maybe because your travel writer toured inside on a weekend, it seems that the building is more reserved for formal functions and gatherings which is actually great. No need to outsource it to a private hotel or venues..

Inside the Sultan Hall which is a Muslim decorative called “Likos” used during special occasions..Learned from a Muslim friend that this is used during weddings and placed over the newly-married couple’s bed. Nice information!

The Prayer Room for Muslim constituents. Sultan Kudarat has a higher population of Christians. In case you are wondering why it looks so plain, Islam is against icons, the reason why their art is very detail-oriented.
