Counting the last days of spending my time here in my hometown, what I can share to you are food. Haha. Don’t blame me, I bet you will do the same if you are a freelance writer. What we always look forward to when we go home are the foods that we grew up with. One my part, here are some of the foods that I dived and savored while I’m still here in Cebu Here is our Cebuano version of monggo. We call this monggos. A staple in carenderias and any family lunches. Healthy and oh so yummy!
We Filipinos love dinuguan leaving foreigners and even some fellowmen disgusted. haha. But I love this dish. Well, if it’s from my mom. I’m particular with the health hazards of eating dinuguan like Hepa B. Whenever I’m in Cebu, I always “order” dugo-dugo from my Mom. We don’t eat this with puto ( rice cakes) but with plain rice. burp!
My Lola’s must-have whenever kids are around. Who doesn’t like bola bola ( meatballs)?
Another top notch recipe of my grandmother now handed down to our family’s next generation. This one is prepared by my Auntie Nining. Empanada, how do you call this in English? Too lazy to google while writing this post. hehe. It’s very small compared to the Ilocano empanada.
There are still more foods that I gulped while “on leave” as a freelance writer. I bet you too, had your own dishes that you feasted on when you visited your respective hometowns. Care to share? Happy New Year!
