Free Tickets to Japan

Sakuras

It was like another earthquake hit globally when ABC News’ Good Morning America aired a travel offer that is so tempting to resist. Japan’s Tourism Agency is lobbying to its lawmakers to approve a billion-dollar “investment” to boost their declining tourism industry. If it will be approved, a site for interested persons to register will go live.

The offer? Free round-trip tickets to Japan! And that’s 10,000 tickets! So that means, 10,000 individuals can fly to Japan for free. Of course, there is no such thing as free lunch so in exchange for the complimentary airfare, travelers are asked to promote Japan as a tourist destination. To be specific, share their stories as they explore Nippon in social media sites as well in blogs and sites. Hmm..I can do that right?

Here is another catch to think about. Meals and accommodation should be shouldered by the traveler. Well, given the high cost of living in Japan, this term will shy away interested parties. But hell no, I’m going. Even if airfare from Manila to Narita is not that expensive. Just the fact that you are traveling on  “commission” with Japan’s tourism agency is enough. I have to recall my Japanese friends so they can adopt me for a week or two. hahaa.

So let us join hands and pray for this plan to push through..and let the best writer/blogger wins!
