Espacio Verde: A Relaxing Fine Dining Experience

The city of Roxas is famous for its wide variety of seafoods that are not just fresh but cheap as well. This shouldn’t be a surprise for this city in Capiz is known as the “Seafoods Capital of the Philippines“. I can no longer count the number of times I have been to this city and I never missed dining on fresh seafoods when I’m in Roxas. But during our last visit, I wanted something different but still on marine bounties.

My husband treated me to a new restaurant and he was pretty sure I have never been there yet. Yup, it was really my first time and too bad it was already dark when we arrived. The place is spacious filled with flowering plants and big trees. The restaurant is called Espacio Verde which in my own judgement is one of the best restaurants in Roxas City.

We often dine in the humble eateries lining the beach of Roxas that certainly serve the best seafoods at the lowest price. But I prefer to dine in another place that is suitable for my toddler who was already sleepy and peaceful enough for my then  3 month-old baby. And Espacio Verde was the best place..again, I felt bad that we went there a little late for us to witness the sunset and for some time to run around the whole property.

Typically a garden restaurant setting, I can’t say no to this place. I was at peace of mind as my toddler explored and played while I relaxed waiting for our orders. Lots of flowers too that I’m sure my mom would ask to add in her garden. Reminds me of home as you dine in our little garden surrounded by my mom’s foliage. But the icing of the cake is really their food…elegantly delicious yet never too fancy.

Fresh Lumpia

I rarely eat salads or appetizers when dining out, I’m a typical Pinoy. I go straight to the main course with rice of course. 🙂 Since their menu looks very promising I decided to have an appetizer. The list was quite long and again I remember my mother that time so I ordered one of  her favorite food- Fresh Lumpia; not even sure if I’ll like it.

The result, it was the best though I found their sauce too sweet. Well, I’m not really a “sauce person” so I skipped their sauce and just dig in to those wraps filled with fresh lettuce with that oh so tasty peanuts.  The wrapper was soft but not saggy either. Their fresh lumpia didn’t just satisfied me during our dinner since it was still fresh and delightful even when I ate it at 3am the next morning ( had some left-over during our meal .. 🙂 )

Pinabusog na Pusit /Stuffed Squid

I love squid and I often order it grilled. I don’t eat tomatoes unless they are inside these creatures. While dining in Espacio Verde, I ordered my all-time favorite. For this dish, they include salted egg ( which I detest)  as one of its stuffing and it was topped with parmesan cheese and basil. It was so delicious that I miraculously ate salted egg, I don’t know what spell they cast over me but I guess the flavor mixed well with the other stuffing. The parmesan cheese, they gave me a cooking idea though I was a little bit dizzy after the meal because of too much cheese. I should have shared it with my husband.

Classic Banana Turon with Vanilla Ice cream

For dessert, it was hubby’s turn but my son wanted ice cream). Good thing, Espacio Verde’s turon has ice cream in it. It was a pleasure seeing father and son feasting on one plate. I didn’t join in, I was so stuffed with the squid. My son had a smile on his face as he dipped his little finger to clean the plate.

As a freelance writer, I give this restaurant 5 stars. Love the food, service, ambiance and the price is reasonable.

Best time to go: afternoon/dusk. Give your time plenty of time to enjoy the place as you share good conversations, look at photos from your travel or just roam around.

Location: Brgy. Dayao, Roxas City.
