Don Rite Gourmet Food

Are you a bonafide meatlover? Do you enjoy conversation more with food?

Living in Iloilo for quite sometime now, I am impressed on how many Ilonggos are introducing more cuisine types to the local palate.

One of the new dining experiences that you should look forward to is with Don Rite Gourmet Food.

Don Rite, a homophone for “done right“, was conceptualized from the main goal of the business – to serve not just flavourful food but food prepared the right way. That includes using natural ingredients without any preservatives and additives.

A venture between Francis Maravilla and German Masterchef, Chef Will Braun, I had the chance to enjoy a relaxed afternoon meal with fellow bloggers and Jo Pijuan of V Wedding Magazine at the Maravilla Enterprises Compound in Lapuz, Iloilo City.

We started off with a tour around their facility. They are producing gourmet meat products from hams, condiments, sausages and even bread. We checked out their temperature room and even their cooking station.

I am amazed with this oven. Why? The bricks are from an old building owned by the Maravilla family. Here is Francis Maravilla, owner of Don Rite Gourmet Food.

Right after our tour, we had our tasting session which was perfectly set up complete with wine pairing. Elegant, unwinding and fun!

We started with bread and their pâté – Danish Chicken Pâté topped with cranberries and bacon-wrapped Chicken Adobo Pâté.

Hope you are not salivating right now because there’s more. Our hosts perfectly paired our food with best tasting wines like this Yellow Tail Chardonnay Australian Wine.

Simultaneously, air-dried meat were served. Italian-style ham and Salametti.

I’m not into spicy food unless it is really good, and this is one of them – Pepper Bites

We then moved to the main “event” of our dining experience. We had Potato Salad and different sausages with Grilled Onion Chow Chow.

In the middle of this array is the dipping sauce, Grilled Onion Chow Chow and sausages. Clockwise, starting with the sausage next to the glass of water-  Grilled Greek Sausage, Grilled Italian Sausage, Smoked Cheese Krainer, Smoked Keilbasa, and German Bratwurst.

Okay, I’ll stop. 😉  Chateau Grand Jour Red Wine from  Bordeaux, France paired the sausages.

And ultimately, Pork Ribs – served on a sizzling plate. Chef Braun deboned the ribs for our convenience. Delish!

Are you still ok? Hahaha!

Dining at Don Rite Gourmet Food is one of the most delightful tasting session I had, one of which is that we dined with a family and they even let us participate at their family tradition of toasting and saying something nice about the meal.

For gourmet food, take home Don Rite Gourmet Food products. If you want to impress someone, want to serve something to discerning foodies or enjoy artisan sausages, these products, I can recommend.

Since it was my son’s 4th birthday the next day, I bought Cheese Krainer, Chicken Adobo Pâté and Pork Ribs. My guests loved it! I know because they kept asking where to buy and how much. Sausages only costs from Php240-270, very affordable knowing the quality.

More than thrilled to enjoy great-tasting products, I am looking forward for Don Rite Gourmet Food tapas bar and restaurant. The place is along Iloilo River, fronting the capitol building. Imagine a cozy and relaxing place to eat in Iloilo. With Chef Braun’s unrivaled experience – cooked for various Philippine President and as Manila Hotel’s Executive Chef, no doubt, it will change Iloilo’s dining scene.

Don Rite Gourmet Food products are available in Iloilo Supermart, Tinukib Pasalubong Center and at  their production site at Lapuz.
