Mr. A’s Restaurant in Cebu

As a vibrant and well visited city, Cebu hosts plenty of restaurants offering different cuisines from around the world. A walk to the Terraces of Ayala Cebu will support this claim with restaurants and cafe clumping in this section. One of my favorite restaurants in Cebu is Mr A’s located in Lower Busay, Lahug.

I first learned about this place when a friend brought the rest of my high school buddies for a dinner treat and it was impressive. One of the things that sets this place from other restaurants in the city is their location. It has the views of Cebu City as well as Mactan and even Sat. Rosa ( Olanggo) Island.  Of course, there are many restaurants in this hilly part of Cebu but I think they have the best location. It is not that far from the city so those taking a taxi will not be worried of their fare. haha!

Also, their food is typical Filipino while those looking for Western dishes can still enjoy this place. We treated our parents for their 31st wedding anniversary and if your father is like mine who is “picky”, then Mr A. is the place to dine. My father only like Chinese and Filipino dishes so don’t take him to those Italian or French restos with food he refer as “fancy food”. W had bulalo ( surprisingly my dear old man ate, kalderetang kambing, etc)

Aside from their nice views to the delight of those people who are into photography, they offer outdoor dining. If you prefer to stay inside, of course you can always savor your meals inside their “original” restaurant. What I mean with “original” is that the current outdoor dining place is actually their parking area.

Take a look here..

See? It is really “reserved” for parking but guests would bring your food and drinks outside to enjoy the relaxing view of the city.  Since then the management just placed tables and chairs for diners. And we did just that. To have a nice view and the cool breeze as you eat or drink, you have to deal with the sloping table..haha!

The best time to go there is around 4:30 pm like we did. You can take a glimpse of the view of the city sans the burning rays of the sun..

Have an early dinner as darkness gradually enfolds…

And Viola!

My folks enjoying the night…..

We stayed longer to enjoy the breeze and all the lights…

Mom said, they should spend their anniversary dinners here  with a new dress from me ( she stole that blouse from me)..demanding! haha!

My Dad’s review on Mr As Restaurant

Good food and its not expensive pero nahadlok sa ilang lamesa ( I was scared of their table)! Well, its their parking lot right?”

  • Pros: good food, the best view of Cebu, cozy and affordable
  • Cons: Accessibility. This place is more convenient for those with their own transportation. Its location is a little bit off the city so you have to hire a taxi and have to ask the staff to get one when you want to go home. Some taxi drivers will refuse..:(

  1. They have really beautiful view especially at night. It’s perfect for a date with your loved one or with friends. It’s a bit far though, but makes up for the view.
