Aklan’s Piña Village on Mabuhay Magazine March 2011 issue

Another accomplishment! I hope you don’t mind but if you are a freelance writer like me, a published work is a sturdy trophy . Last month, my article on Hoyohoy National Park in Tangub ( close to Ozamiz City ) was featured. So this month is for Kalibo’s Piña Village.

Panay’s weaving industry is very close to my heart. Before I became a freelance writer, I was taking up History in UP Visayas and one of my favorite topics is weaving. Weaving was always my research topics specifically about the roles o women to this industry. Ask my classmates, they can testify to this claim. haha!

I can’t discuss that much about this village in Kalibo since I’m bounded with my agreements. For a glimpse, it is a place where you can witness how the famed piña lcloth is produced – from getting the leaves to weaving. If you are in Kaibo, I highly suggest this activity. It is beyond learning.

Here is a photo of my article

I still do not have a copy of the magazine to take a clearer photo or write it the contents here. If I will get one, I’ll surel make another post of it.

Till then!
